Bargaining Update - December 8, 2015
Your bargaining team, along with Alberta Health Services, met with mediator Andrew Sims on Dec. 2 in Edmonton to begin the mediation process.
The employer put no new monetary proposal forward this round, however both parties have been asked to bring monetary proposals to mediation on Dec. 14. The proposal put forward by AHS will be a signal to your committee as to whether or not it is willing to treat GSS staff fairly.
Unless there is significant movement on Dec. 14, it is doubtful the mediation process will proceed. This means we’d be forced into interest arbitration, which would not begin until February 2016 and would extend all the way into June.
Bargaining in bad faith complaint:
In consultation with AUPE, your committee decided to adjourn the bargaining in bad faith complaint with the Alberta Labour Relations Board as a result of the resignation of AHS CEO Vickie Kaminski.
This means the complaint has been suspended for now but may be reestablished in the future.
Your bargaining committee:
Your bargaining committee is committed to keeping you informed throughout the entire bargaining process.
Please do not hesitate to contact a member of your committee with any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
